Panama March 2027

Travel & Stay

We know this is a long journey for many of you, so we’ve gathered everything we can to make the trip from “front door” to “sand between your toes” as smooth as possible..

Flying from Denmark / Faroe Islands / Europe:

The destination airport is Tocumen International (PTY) in Panama City.

  • Most comfortable routes: KLM via Amsterdam, Iberia via Madrid, Air France via Paris, or Lufthansa via Frankfurt. Usually one connection and around 14–17 hours total.
  • More affordable options: United, American, or Delta via the US (Miami, Houston, or Atlanta are common hubs). These can be significantly cheaper but require a US transit visa or ESTA — check ahead.
  • From the Faroe Islands: Book the long-haul leg with as much layover as you need to make the connection comfortable.
  • Booking tip: Aim to book 4–6 months ahead for best prices. Tuesdays/Wednesdays are often cheaper days to fly. [More details to come — we may also share a group booking option closer to the date.]
Arriving in Panama

Tocumen Airport (PTY) is about 45 minutes from central Panama City. Official airport taxis or Uber/InDriver are the easiest options. We strongly recommend sleeping at least one or two night in Panama City to adjust before continuing to the wedding venue.

Where to stay in Panama City
  • Casco Viejo (Old Town): Beautiful, walkable, full of restaurants, rooftops, and music. Great for first-time visitors. Hotels range from boutique to luxury.
  • Marbella: Modern, safe, central, and close to everything. Good for business-style hotels and easier transport.
  • Punta Pacífica / Costa del Este: Quieter, more residential, with newer condos and Airbnbs.

[We’ll share a curated list of specific hotels at different price points — more details to come.]

Where to find wedding-guest outfits in Panama City

If you’d rather travel light and shop on arrival — or just want something a little more tropical for the occasion — Panama City has plenty of options:

  • Multiplaza Pacific & Soho Mall: Upscale malls with international and Latin American designers.
  • Albrook Mall: Huge selection, more affordable, great for accessories and shoes.
  • Casco Viejo boutiques: Local Panamanian designers with beautiful, more unique pieces — perfect for tropical elegance.
Practical bits
  • Currency: US dollar (also called “balboa” locally). ATMs widely available.
  • Language: Spanish is the main language; English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
  • Weather in March: Dry season — hot, sunny, low humidity. Around 28–32°C.
  • Plug type: Type A/B (same as the US), 110V.
  • Visa: Danish and most European passport holders do not need a visa for short stays, of up to 90 days. Travellers on other passports should check their specific requirements before booking.
